It was love at first sight. Hidden among many objects at a garage sale, this 1860's bentwood Shaker chair sat dressed in black paint, heavy black leather upholstery, and large tacks. My goal was to honor it's beautiful construction and update it's style to fit within a modern home today.

The weave pattern and materials are a nod to the chair's Shaker roots.
The leather is held by small leather strings wrapped around dowels so the strips can be restretched over time.
